Boeing submits final proposal for the US Air Force UH-1N replacement

U.S. aerospace giant Boeing has announced on Twitter about that company submits the final proposal for the US Air Force UH-1N Huey fleet replacement.

On 17 July, the company released a few details in the video on Twitter about its proposal to replace the fleet of UH-1N Hueys in service of the U.S. Air Force.

According to Rick Lemaster MH139 team lead at Boeing, the company offers a very successful replacement for the ageing helicopter, which will improve the capabilities of the US Air Force and could save money in acquisition costs and lifecycle expenses.

The MH-139 is a joint project by Boeing and Italy’s Leonardo, based on an Italy-made AW139 intermediate twin-engine helicopter helicopter, provides a capable, affordable, and ready to serve platform for the U.S. Air Force’s UH-1N Replacement Program.

Outside, it has a rear intake engine that can ward off heat seeking missiles, flare dispensers and large windows.  Inside, there’s increased carrying capacity, a glass cockpit with advanced avionics, and a four-axis digital autopilot with auto-hover.

“The lower operating cost, the increased reliability, the improved maintainability all will translate into savings for the Air Force,” said Rick Lemaster.

The Boeing MH-139 leverages more than a decade of service, derived from the AW139 built in Philadelphia, with a fleet of almost 900 aircraft, serving more than 250 customers worldwide, spanning more than 1.7 million flight hours.
