Pentagon to order additional M870 shotguns for U.S. Air Force

On April. 29, the U.S. Army Contracting Command posted a notice on the U.S. government’s main contracting website, to award a firm fixed price purchase order to Remington Arms for 12-gauge M870 shotguns to enhance existing the U.S. Air Force inventory.

“The U.S. Army Contracting Command-New Jersey, on behalf of PM Soldier Weapons, intends to solicit, negotiate and award a sole source contract to Remington Arms,” said in a notice.

According to Remington, M870 is the special version of the 870 shotgun that uses throughout the US military. It is expected that M870 shotgun will use in the U.S. Air Force Security Forces, force protection and military police force of the United States Air Force.

Remington describes the M870 as “Multiple specialized shotguns in one, the Model 870 Modular Combat Shotgun (MCS) is the ultimate choice for virtually any close-range scenario. Modifications are made rapidly without tools thanks to the REM LOC Quick-Change Stock System.”

Also in a notice added that the intended contract will provide the M870 12 Gage Shotguns and Remington M24 Sniper Weapon to enhance existing the U.S. Air Force inventory and be serviced with current inventory spare parts. The Solicitation release is expected to be 15 May 2019.
