U.S. Air Force contracts with Black River Systems for counter-small unmanned aircraft systems

Black River Systems, the electronic warfare sensing systems’ manufacturer, was awarded a contract from the U.S. Air Force for operational counter-small unmanned aircraft systems (s-UAS) open systems architecture software/hardware systems.

The contract, announced Thursday by the Department of Defense, is worth more than  $88 million and  provides for system analysis, simulation and modeling, technique development, hardware and software rapid prototyping, integration, test, demonstration, data analysis, transition, operational assessment, and hardware and software enhancement relative to the objective.

“Black River Systems Co.,* Utica, New York, has been awarded an $88,733,141 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for operational counter-small unmanned aircraft systems (s-UAS) open systems architecture software/hardware systems,” according to a recent statement from the Department of Defense.

According to a statement, work will be performed in Utica, New York, and is expected to be complete by May 1, 2022.

U.S. defense contractor Black River Systems designs, develops, deploys and analyzes radar, infrared, acoustic, and electronic warfare sensing systems.

The company’s presentation notes that their technical focus has always been on practical engineering solutions related to signal & image processing, object/target tracking, real-time and massively parallel software optimization and deployment, and rapidly developed deployable hardware.
