Am murican, love it here and want us to be the best we can be. That said, we lost in Soccer after being dominant, we lost in Basketball, and even fucking Baseball. Is it because the quality of our teams became worse? No. It's complacency. If you watched those USA teams lose, you would see they didn't move around at the same intensity as they would if they were playing a home game vs their rival....

Is it because the quality of our teams became worse? No. It's complacency. If you watched those USA teams lose, you would see they didn't move around at the same intensity as they would if they were playing a home game vs their rival. The mentality wasn't there. Now what the fuck does that have to do with the military? Well we're number one! And we have the best technology! Well the USA certainly didn't win wars by being expensive and technologically superior. We have more tanks! - They have more people with cheaper anti tank equipment. We have more tonnage!- The war in Ukraine has proven you only need a few missiles and sea drones to take down even the biggest ships. Wars would be limited by manufacturing capability, something the USA sold away and China embraced. It would take decades to build anything near with our political system. China's fast food worker equivalent is electronics assembly and or soldering. We would be absolutely fucked if wars came down to who could make more drones and anti tank equipment. For now it's not predicated on that and we have whole other arsenals of freedom we can reign down on our enemies. I firmly believe we could scrap with anyone but I also think we may be overestimating our successes and underestimating our potential losses. It certaintly doesn't help being a lurker for years and seeing the bs bureaucracy yall have to deal with. Shitpost out.
Just curious for the experiences of those going thru it that day.

So I'm 16 years old. Junior in high school. Recently I've had a random feeling that I may want to do something in special forces or military. Maybe a cop or join the military. I want to feel that brotherhood and I love America so it just makes sense. Not to mention the benefits. I feel like it will turn me into a man. The only thing is of course I'm afraid of the thought of going to war because my...

I want to feel that brotherhood and I love America so it just makes sense. Not to mention the benefits. I feel like it will turn me into a man. The only thing is of course I'm afraid of the thought of going to war because my grandpa was in WWII and he had severe PTSD. He used to tell my mom to never let us (his grandkids) go to war. Any advice on what I should do or consider? Thanks.
Several articles about the fact they awarded a testing contract between 2020 and 2022, but no program name or updates seem to be available. I want to know if part of the reason the RM277 wasn't adopted was problems with the polymer ammunition.

I mean… in the old days it made sence - it is easy if both aiming and piloting is merged into one act. But in the age in which we can manufacture helmets that can track pilots eyeballs and point a gun in the direction where he is looking… i think it would make sence that pilot could point his gun in certain radius infront of him, rather than steer the entire jet into correct direction.
I know...

I know guns are nowdays close to redundant in dogfight, but this feature could be useful in CAS missions…
what i mean this missile basically track you like a normal fox 3 but switches to fox 2 when near enough or good tone and so you wont even know cause your rwr goes silent and yeah its dumb but imagine you tried to dodge a missile then you think its gone you get rear ended by a missile that turned into a fox 2 giving you no warning in a high stress situation. guaranteed hit mind games in the sky...

I'm a college sophomore and am considering the Navy NuPOC program. The money seems really good and it seems like a great opportunity, but I'm not sure if I want to commit to the navy yet. Any thoughts on the program?

I saw this weapon once I believe it was on a battleship of some sort. I'm aware this is the roughest drawing ever but it's eating away at my mind that I can't find it. The rounds were fired off incredibly fast and in a zigzag patter

I’m autistic with adhd and for my entire life I’ve dealt with sensory overload and how I usually cope with it is using headphones or other methods of removing myself from the sensory environment.
Now that I have more military oriented goals I need to know how to deal with sensory overload without any headphones, sensory breaks, or other accommodations that would be perfectly reasonable outside a military environment.
I need to deal with sensory overload 100% internally and maintain awareness in that moment and remain able to communicate effectively while following the rules of engagement.
Do any of you have advice for dealing with sensory overload in a manner close to what I need or training myself to do so?
Edit: I am aware that I WILL need a waiver for service due to these conditions.
Sorry if this isnt an acceptable question or is in the wrong sub. My grandfather got shellshock during WW1 however would happily joke and discuss his experiences after the war at length (he did interviews and news articles on his time at the front), is this a common coping mechanism or a bit strange?

Does it make sense to use a Chinook when the operation is only transporting troops and not heavy equipment? Red Wings and Extortion 17 were both cases that were improbable but impactful. If the operation doesn't call for heavy equipment, shouldn't the army use multiple Black Hawks instead of one or two Chinooks? They seem to have similar max speed and altitudes so I dont understand why the army...

Single E-4 here. Why should I, or should I not re-enlist? I'm Air Force, like my job for the most part, and my base. I got a job offer to be a contractor and I'll be making almost $600 more per month.
