Attending a military funeral
Posted on
My grandfather recently passed away, he was Navy stationed in the pacific during WWII and is being properly honored with a military funeral.
I'll be attending in uniform as he would have wanted and I want to make sure I am doing everything correctly and respectfully. From what I have found so far I know to salute when the hearse passes me, when the casket is moved, during the gun salute, during taps, and when the casket is lowered but please lmk if I missed something there.
My main question is if I end up being seated and not explicitly told to stand during any of these events should I still stand and salute or remain seated as directed? My gut tells me stand and salute and I expect we will be told to stand but this is a first for me so idk what to expect.
Thank you wonderful people who sort by new for helping me out.
Tldr; if directed to be seated should I stand and salute when I normally would?
