Big Sky Theory
Posted on
There's a theory in air combat called "big sky theory" which states that it's unlikely for two airborne objects to collide, because the sky is so big. You just have to avoid the specific moment in space and time when a projectile would collide with your aircraft. This brings us to the coronavirus.
The coronavirus is dispersed from your mouth by breathing, and especially yelling or singing, like a flak cannon. The virus itself, and droplet nuclei that contain it, can hang in the air for hours before landing on a surface. That's why we need to wear masks and have adequate ventilation indoors (6 air changes per hour as a rule of thumb). Think about it the next time you're sitting, walking, or running near someone.
