Children of military

Posted by /u/Twerp_brah on

Child of a marine. I’m 29 now, and was raised by a gulf war vet. Has anyone else noticed weird personality traits in themselves compared to kids of civilian parents? ie, I’m extremely direct and straightforward with people, and want to make sure that people are taken care of, and tasks are done right, more so than people that have had zero experience with military personalities; but at the same time I didn’t personally serve, so I’ve got a lot of self doubt and residual insecurities from being raised by an angry vet. So it’s weird, I’ve got the straightforward, honorable qualities, but still scatterbrained from living in that type of household for so long. Can anyone relate, or share weird aspects of their personality/outlook on life.
