Is it stolen valor for a civilian to write in a soldier’s perspective?
Posted on
I’m an amateur author writing a series (creepypasta) that takes place from the perspective of a soldier in the US Army but I’ve never served. I’m writing with the help of a friend who is active duty so I get terms and general military fuckery somewhat correct. I plan to post them on Reddit when I’m done but it flows way better if I post them in the first person. Would I be stolen valor since it could be construed that I’m trying to claim to be a veteran? I’m aware I’m fine legally but I guess this is an ethics question. Thanks y’all!
