Not so clear on surrenders
Posted on
As an thought experiment, in a medevial battle, the surrendering force is a very small force, and their army is utterly devestated in a very flat and open battlefield. There are like 10-20 men left. The victors gather the surrendering force and bring them in front of the leader. The leader stipulates one condition for their surrender: they must farm for the civilians of the winning side during the remainder of the war.
What happens if the small force refuses the conditions and the victors won't agree to any others? It'd be a war crime to execute them, right? So how would both parties proceed?
