Prior service returning to AIT
Posted on
I decided to go back in the Army national guard and become a medic as it would help my civilian career in the medical field. Currently working as a Patient Care Tech in a hospital for the past 2 years in a ICU so already have a jump start on the medical part of the training still in shape to.
I'm a former E-5 13F who was active with the 82nd with one combat deployment even earned my EIB (yea dumb for fire supporters) and 3 years with the MI National Guard as the same MOS. I got out of the Guard this past May of 2019 and plan on returning after a few surgeries I need from my time in service. I'm curious as to what life is like returning to AIT as a prior service NCO.
The one thing I'm concerned with is being treated as a fresh private and not as someone who has been through the shit and has lead troops. Granted I know this is a possibility and I might have to put my ego aside and just suck it up but curious if that's the case.
