Probably preaching to the choir here, but if you’re getting a FREE meal, TIP!
Posted on
Went to get my free meal yesterday. I had to work, and had a community event last night, so I ducked out of the office early and got my meal around 330pm.
So I’m having a beer and waiting for my food. And I overhear the server talking to her manager behind me. She wasn’t speaking loudly in a way to be heard, but like a lot of Vets, I’m a little hyper-vigilant and always looking and listening around me. Anyway, I hear her say she’s served over 330$ in free food to Vets and only made $15 in tips.
Like I said in the title, I know I’m probably preaching to the choir here, but for those who don’t know, servers live off tips. Servers’ minimum wage is only $2.13 an hour in most states, and the lion's share of that goes to taxes. So tips are everything.
I, and lots of others, are proud to be Veterans/Service Members. Please don’t make the rest of us look bad by being a cheapskate.
