Question about ww2 155mm Howitzer Crew Roles
Posted on
Hello all
My grandfather served in the Pacific with the Marines in world War II, he was rated as a field artillery and heavy artillery operator. His primary job during his two and a half years of service in the Pacific was as a crew member of a 155 mm howitzer.
I understand it takes approximately 10 or 11 people to crew each one of these howitzers. My question is: does anyone know the specific roles of these 11 crew members? I'm sure there is a loader, a radio operator ETC... But I have been looking for information just out of curiosity pertaining to the unique roles of these 11 crew members. Can anyone help? Thanks
