Questions re. Kitty Hawk carrier launch deck (scratch building)
Posted on
I want to scratch build a portion of the carrier deck for a 1:48 scale F-14A model, but I have some difficulty finding good photos, and I have some basic questions if anybody can help me. Not sure what things are called, so a little tricky finding the photos I want.
- The carriers have a ramp that is put up to presumably shield against the jet blast from jets taking off with the catapult system, but what search terms do I use for finding photos of that "blast ramp"?
- Does anybody know of any basic drawing of the two capapult launch areas on a Kitty Hawk supercarrier?
- What is the thingy called, that pulls on a jet's front wheels to propel it forwards?
I found a very few photos so I can eyeball it, but ideally I would want a drawing that shows the placement of the multiple hook points on the deck, and ideally the basic dimensions of the raised blast ramp, like width and height and angle.
