Update to MEME content
Posted on
TL;DR MEME's are only allowed to be posted on Wednesday's and weekends.
We’re making some changes to the current content that is allowed.
At one point in the history of /r/military, meme’s were only acceptable on a certain day. We then did away with that to allow memes all day every day. Well that has turned into about all /r/military is now. Looking at the top posts it’s just about all meme’s.
This is not to say we haven’t had any good memes because we’ve had some really good ones [1], [2], [3]but we’ve also have had some trash.
With that said we’re going back to certain style of the original rule and that is meme’s will only be allowed on Wednesday's and weekends. That’s three days of allowing for meme content.
With this change we want to try and promote OC and self post content. We’re also trying to listen to the feedback in the survey from /u/spartan_samuel that he conducted. One of the feedback items was a split between wanting more and wanting less meme’s. This isn’t the first time this feedback has come up, but It is just the first time we’ve taken action on it.
Here you can read more on the results from /u/spartan_samuel survey.
