Where do I receive a document stating my name change? (Kind of complicated)
Posted on
FYI THIS IS ABOUT MY LAST NAME. Changed due to marriage.
I got my name changed in 2015 (a year after I’d been married) while at Fort Bragg, NC. My SGT did all of the paperwork and literally just had me sign my name a few times and then gave me a form that was signed by our commander stating my name change. I understand this is a stupid way to go about it, but I was a private at the time new at my duty station and unaware how everything worked so hindsight is 20/20.
Anyways, then I got out in 2017 and have moved a few states since then. I’m in California with a Texas Drivers License but my name was changed in North Carolina.. and in order to get a Cali DL I have to have supporting documents that show my name change. My SSC is one name and my BC is another. (I got the SSC changed while I was in service so I used whatever paperwork my SGT gave me at the time to do that).
Where do I get the paperwork that says my name has been changed? I’ve tried calling the Soldier Support Center and they have been running me in circles. I have went by the court house in my current town and called the county court house where Fort Bragg is nearby and neither say they can help me. I need my Cali DL to finish filing my taxes. Can anyone help?
Also, I’m sorry if this is worded/formatted weirdly at all. I’m on mobile and I’m frustrated so yeah. Thank you.
