Boeing to build 4 new MH-47G Block II for U.S. Army

Posted on July 12, 2018

Boeing has been awarded a USD131 million contract for the production and delivery of four new MH-47G Block II helicopters for U.S. Army.

Announced on 11 July, the modification (P00003) to contract W91215-16-G-0001 provides for the production and delivery of four new MH-47G Block II helicopters by June 29, 2020.

According to the statement by the Department of Defense (DoD), the Boeing Co., Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, was awarded a $131,142,877 modification (P00003) to contract W91215-16-G-0001 for the procurement of four MH-47G Block II aircraft.

“Work will be performed in Ridley Park, Pennsylvaniaю,” noted in the statement by the DoD.

Boeing says that the Chinook is a true multi-role, vertical-lift platform. Its primary mission is transport of troops, artillery, equipment, and fuel. At this moment, the U.S. Army. has 69 MH-47G Chinook helicopters. The current MH-47G modernization programs will ensure this tandem rotor helicopter remains in the Army fleet through the 2030s.
