Estonian Defence Forces unveiled a multi-mission, unmanned ground vehicle is also equipped with a 12.7mm remotely operated weapon station (RWS) during NATO-led military exercise.

The THeMIS (Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System) unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) developed by Estonia-based defence and security services provider Milrem was displayed with 12.7mm FNS remotely operated weapon station (RWS) for the first time.

The first prototype of the UGV was unveiled at the Defence Security and Equipment International 2015 (DSEI 2015) defence and security exhibition held in London in September 2015. A new variant of the THeMIS UGV, named THeMIS ADDER, was introduced at the Singapore Airshow 2016.

The THeMIS (Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System) features a diesel-electric hybrid drive, has a payload of 750kg and a top speed of 24km/h. However, its most innovative feature is the ability for rapid configuration that allows it to take the form of several mission specific solutions.

The multipurpose vehicle can serve as a transportation platform carrying a squad’s gear, a remote weapon station equipped with small or large caliber weapons, IED detection and disposal platform and much more.
