Ukraine conducts successful flight test of Skif antitank missile

Posted on May 18, 2018

Ukraine’s State Kyiv Design Bureau LUCH  has successfully test-fired export modification of the Skif man-portable anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs).

According to the press service of the company, in middle May was conducted a successful final test of the Skif man-portable anti-tank guided missile system developed for a foreign customer.

The design of the advanced AT guided missile system “Skif” has undergone a number of changes in accordance with the requirements of the potential customer. All modifications aimed at adapting the launcher for use in soft soil and sand. First of all, we are talking about installing a powerful thermal imager, allowing to destroy the targets with the first shot, despite the difficult weather conditions, day and night.

The missile itself has not changed, as originally was designed for use in all climatic and weather conditions, without exception.

The system’s feature lies in its possibility to aim the missiles at a target from closed emplacements and shelters that reduces the risk of the gunner destruction by reply fire attack of the enemy.

  • Missile caliber: – 152 mm.
  • Armor penetration: – 1100 mm.
  • System weight: – 100 kg.
  • Range of fire: – 5500 m.

During the tests of the advanced AT guided missile system “Skif”, developers and representatives of the customer’s country were present. Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were also present during the tests of the new Kyiv Design Bureau LUCH development.
