Ukraine reveals redesigned tracked infantry fighting vehicle with Duplet combat module

Ukrainian industry has developed upgraded BMP-2 tracked infantry fighting vehicle with Duplet Combat Module.

The new vehicle was shown for the delegation of Indian company “Reliance Defence Limited” in Zhitomir.

Earlier, UKROBORONPROM enterprise SE “SpetsTehnoEksport” and Indian company “Reliance Defence Limited” signed the memorandum on joint participation in BMP-2 modernization for the Indian Army.

Cooperation primarily relates to the manufacture and supply of components and systems for improving BMP mobility, modernization of sighting and fire control systems. Indian park of different BMP-2 versions consists of about 2000 vehicles. Most of them require modernization and combat characteristics improvement.

The extensive modifications by UKROBORONPROM SE “Zhytomyr Armored Plant” include the replacement of the original one-man BMP-1 or BMP-2 turret for a new Duplet Combat Module (CM).

The two-person Duplet CM has welded steel armor and is armed with two stabilized ZTM-2 dual-feed cannon – the Ukrainian equivalent of the Russian 30 mm 2A42 – which has a cyclic rate of fire of 330-550 rds/min.

The module is also armed with two KT-7.62 mm machine guns (MG) that are positioned between the two 30 mm cannon, a single KBA 117 30 mm automatic grenade launcher (AGL) is mounted above.
