Math Segments on the ASVAB. Best way to prepare for it and for the future?
Posted on
Tl;dr: Math has come back to bite me in the ass. I suck at it, and I need to get better. Who, what, or where can I learn math from to not only score better on the ASVAB/PICAT, but for my own satisfaction?
My ASVAB expired after three years of inactivity. I originally scored a 69, but dropped to a 66 on the practice test due to my poor performance on the math segments.
When I get all my plans in order, I’d like to aim for a higher score (aiming for a 90 if possible). I’ve never been good at math. I’ve failed almost every single class in my entire school career except for one. It’s the one subject that frustrates me to no end.
My recruiters have all said I’ve maxed out the English segments on the ASVAB. They told me I got the maximum 5, but I scored around a 2 with the math segments (just to clarify, they told me these are the points used to calculate my scores).
Truth be told, I feel embarrassed and stupid for not understanding high school math. I wasn’t the best student, but I was good at certain subjects, some more than others. I was pretty good at bullshiting my way to graduation though haha. If I’m going to enlist, I need to do the best I can to get good scores. Where do I go to improve?
