A Canadian in Vietnam.

My uncle recently just had an aneurysm and nearly died. I realized he's pushing 70 years old and I probably don't have much longer with him left, so before I forget the details, I'm going to put his story here
My uncle was 16-years-old in 1970 when he went down to the United States from Canada to join the U.S Marine Corps. He had went with a few friends wanting to join the war and fight in Vietnam...
A short story of Creek.

Thanks to another poster and his stories of ‘Squirrel,’ I was reminded of a kid we’ll call ‘Creek.’ This is another story of the intel schools. This is short, but more may follow later.
We had just hit our mos school a few months back. He had properly gone and spent a significant portion of his boot camp money on a brand new gaming laptop for his down time. This kid was in the room 3 doors down...
HM1’s Power Trip

Backstory:
I was stationed in Bethesda after going from the Navy Reserves to Active Duty. I was assigned to an admin role that I never wanted.
Our department was a mix of Navy, Army, and Civilians. Out LPO was an HM1 who spent most of his career with the Marines and just seemed to be out of place in not only a hospital setting but also admin. I know military is military but the hospital setting...

[Classification Markings are FSPO, FOR SHITPOSTING PURPOSES ONLY]
I swear I did not have this pun in mind when I originally chose Squirrel's pseudonym.
Those of you that read the last entry in the Chronicles of Squirrel remember (or have been unable to forget) that he graduated Basic Combat Training. This post is a collection of subsequent...
Napoleon Jr. and the security badge - Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye

This happened back in the early 90s. I was stationed in Japan, we were a small secret squirrel facility.
Napoleon Jr, was the Marine Corps OIC (O3 - Captain), in charge of the security forces for the secure facility.
Napoleon Jr. got his rocks off trying to order Navy personnel around (these orders were outside the scope of his authority). This caused a lot of issues between him and the Navy...

WWII POW Diary
Posted on
So it goes like this, my grandfather was a POW while serving in the Army in WWII. During his time he made and wrote a diary. It is very precious to me and the only thing I have of his. My number one concern is that it will be damaged or lost in some way. What I want is a museum to Donate it to. One that deserves what I feel is priceless. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone
What being a good soldier is all about

In 1992, I was attending Army AIT at Fort Benning, Georgia. Halfway through my training cycle, I had to pull detail as CQ (Charge of Quarters) Runner. Being the CQ Runner sucked. You (the Runner) and the CQ (a Drill Sergeant) sat at a desk in the Company's main office, monitoring the phones, and responding if any of the soldiers in the Company did anything stupid.
During my CQ Runner shift, I was...
Korea, FTX, and bored as shit.

While in Korea, I spent probably close to six months of my time in country out on FTX. For the civilian readers, that is Field Training Exercise. Your unit goes out "to the field" for an amount of time. This is usually the local countryside, but there are also large areas the military owns specifically for this sort of thing - wargames. After all, the entire point of going to the field (besides...
