TLDR; I just had a baby in April, I’m mil to mil, I’m TDYing in October for 6 weeks…. And I just got an assignment to Osan for Feb 2024.

ETA: assignment, not hard orders.

A little back story, I just gave birth in April and for some reason, my limitation code on vMPF dropped off after a month or two. I didn’t think it was a big deal because I haven’t even been on station for 2 years so I wasn’t expecting any sort of orders. I am also in the process of applying for retraining (just waiting on medical clearance). My husband is ALSO waiting on retraining things. I’m “deploying” (glorified TDY) in October and won’t be back until around thanksgiving.

Yesterday, I find out from my squadron’s CSS that I got an assignment to Osan, EDD December ‘23, RNLTD February ‘24. I had a mini breakdown.

I knew what I was signing up for when I joined. And I knew what I was getting myself into when my husband and I decided to have a baby as dual military. I just didn’t expect… this.

I feel like I have no time to make a decision because all of my timelines are so close together. I’m worried I won’t hear back about retraining in time.

Oh and also, my contract ends in May of 2024.
