Federal Tax Return - Schedule R (Permanent and Total Disability)
Posted on
Hey all. Doing my first tax return after leaving the Marine Corps and came across schedule R on my H&R Block software. Here's the quote.
Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled (Schedule R)
Include tax relief for low-income individuals older than age 65 or permanently disabled individuals of any age.
Going to the IRS webpage I find a further breakdown of this which talks about P&T declared by a physician, age, etc. If I'm understanding this correctly, anyone who is P&T qualifies for Schedule R (which I honestly don't know what that even does yet).
I'm 32, 100% P&T, and going through VR&E (not employed).
Can someone shed some light on this for me?
