Give Thanks for Those Who Protect Us
Posted on
Being in the military can come with a great amount of sacrifice. The long hours, the low compensation, the possibility of being deployed or stationed overseas. One sacrifice that I certainly take for granted is that many men and women will be separated from their families on holidays, such as Thanksgiving tomorrow.
I am guilty of forgetting sometimes that while my family spends the weekend together celebrating, eating, and watching football, there are many families who will be missing someone. Thousands will spend Thursday, November 24th protecting, guarding, and serving.
Thanksgiving is wrapped up, and sometimes lost in, tradition. So much so that it is easy to forget how immensely blessed we are as a people and as a nation. We are blessed with freedom to share our opinions, freedom to vote and hold accountable, freedom to worship, and freedom to disagree. These blessing came at a cost, sometimes even the greatest cost for millions. On a day that we set aside to reflect on and be thankful for what we have, please remember to be thankful for our men and women who have worn the uniform, those who wear it tomorrow, and those who are celebrating with one less family member.
Thank you to all those who will keep us safe, on Thanksgiving and every day.
