The special tactics Airmen were alerted on the morning of Aug. 16 that they would augment Joint Task Force-Haiti relief efforts. With the help of C-146A Wolfhound aircrews, assigned to the 492nd and 919th Special Operations Wings, the team touched down in Port Au Prince, Haiti, within 36 hours.

Operation Allies Refuge: Ramstein AB transforms into major evac hub

Following the rapid deterioration of security in Afghanistan, the first of many aircraft carrying U.S. citizens, Special Immigrant Visa applicants and other vulnerable Afghans landed at the installation Aug. 20 as part of Operation Allies Refuge. Since then, Ramstein AB has received more than 11,000 evacuees as they await transportation to their final destination. More than 2,500 people have already departed Ramstein AB for the United States.
