10th Annual Spc. Hilda I. Clayton Best Combat Camera Competition
Posted on
This is the 10th year 55th Signal Company (COMCAM) has hosted the Best Combat Camera competition. If you enjoy the visual products you see across all branches of the military, you can tune in this year to watch 15 teams compete against each other in a rigorous technical, tactical, and physical competition. The competition this year features soldiers from across the Army including the 75th ranger regiment, Air Force, two teams of marine combat camera personnel, and two combat camera teams from the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). The unit’s instagram page (@55thsignalcompany) will be posting a huge amount of content the remainder of the week until the conclusion of the competition on Friday.
The Spc. Hilda I. Clayton Best Combat Camera competition honors it’s namesake, a Combat Camera soldier who was the first combat documentation specialist to be killed in Afghanistan. While documenting a mortar live fire training exercise with the Afghan National Army (ANA), the mortar shell exploded before leaving the launch tube killing her and four afghan soldiers. The photo above is of this very explosion, taken by Spc. Clayton herself.
I would love to see support for this competition and our joint and multinational competitors.
Thank you.
