Family military history - insignia from Korea and WWI and ??
Posted on
I came across some family antique US military pins and medals recently and need help identifying them. Here's what I know: my father was a second, and then first lieutenant, and USAF co-pilot during Korea. I also found two marksmanship medals with ribbons from ROTC in his name/no date - but I believe ROTC training at his university was mandated then (he graduated in '49). Dad was discharged to the reserves in '53, and then resigned his commission around '57 or '58. With his pins, there is a small gold (or bronze) star. What would this have been for? Also what was the wings with the chain for?
Since I can only add one photo at a time, I'll post my other questions with photo to follow. Thanks!
