I live on a United States military base and I am not allowed to have a firearm in my living quarters. Does that seem unconstitutional?

Hi first time poster here, I didn't know where to ask this question so I did some digging and found this subreddit. Sorry if this question has been asked before, if it has I will gladly remove my post. Anyway, at the base I live on I can own a firearm but the base holds it in an armory until I want to check it out in order to use it. I live in a barracks and I feel as though I should have the right to have it in my room just in case my life is in any danger. For example, yesterday there was an active shooter at a military base in california and I bet a lot of the military personnel there were not equipped to defend themselves against an active shooter if they truly had to. Just wondering what some of you guys think.
