In movies/tv troops in combat areas seem to never have their helmets buckled tightly and the straps are just hanging to the side. Is this realistic or just Hollywood?

Sorry for the stupid and random question.
I was watching The Pacific again recently and noticed that most of the war movies and tv shows I’ve watched show the troops in or near combat never have the chinstrap on their helmet clipped in so the helmets are just loose and seem to fall off pretty often.
Not sure why I care but it struck me as weird and made me wonder how realistic that is. From my understanding the military has strict rules on pretty much everything and I would think buckling and tightening your helmet would be one of those.
