Modern military technology versus the past
Posted on
Me and one of my friends were just having a conversation that started out as a joke but actually got me thinking.
Obviously the technology we use in the military today, even the shittiest of the shitty (Army here so I know how it feels to be issued BS) is alien technology in comparison to what they used in say, the revolutionary and civil wars. That being said, I told my friend in a kind of sarcastic way that one dude with 7.62 rated armor and an M4 could take down an entire Army’s worth of soldiers singlehandedly. Initially I was just messing around and being an idiot but honestly, I think that’d actually be possible. 1700s-1800s militaries didn’t have any type of protective equipment capable of stopping 5.56, factor in the fact that they may or may not be practicing guerrilla warfare (depends on what army and specific time period in the 1800s) the range your average M4 is effective from and the type of gear we use nowadays... I think I may have actually been right.
One dude from the 2010s running around the forest in a ghillie suit with modern weapons & equipment vs an entire revolutionary or civil war army? I think I’d take those odds.
Let me know what you guys think lol
