So I separated from the military in August. The amount stated on my DD-214 said I was going to get almost $18,000. I've been waiting for 6 months for this amount without any notice despite me emailing the separation civilian twice a week, who only responded with "They are working on it." Finally I had enough and called the hotlines and such. Now they are saying the amount on my DD-214 was "incorrectly calculated" and they reduced it to just barely over $16,000. Fine, whatever. But then they tell me that since it's an ISP it gets taxed 22%!!!! So now I'm barely getting $12,000! How the fuck?!

They promise us one amount, change it without notice, and then tax the hell out of it to go right back in their fucking pockets!! I am so glad I am out. I am sick and tired of the military fucking me over every step of the way. Thank goodness my family is financially sound and wasn't depending on this to survive. I'm sure plenty of others who got out were not, and then they wonder why we have so many homeless vets.
