Weird question, I've always wondered this...

I have a strange question, please take no offense.
Say, that there is a soldier that has been dishonorably discharged. He didn't do something bad, but refused to go back, he was dealing with personal issues that clouded his judgment at the moment and just didn't go back.
Say that there is a dire need in the military. Say that the world is going through some sort of military shortage because ( think of something outlandish) like mas pandemic, zombies, alien invasion, a crazy apocalytic war of something... in case of a dire need can the military call back those that were discharged in a less than honorable way? I mean they're already trained and understand how the military works better than picking up a whole new civilian to give them a crash course to fullfill the need at the moment.
Say they need people with specific skills, like pilots, doctors, specific language skill need, or something... is that even feasible ?
