What’s your best example of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse you’ve witnessed during your time in the service?

I’ll go first. I was a combat engineer in the National Guard doing our monthly drill. This month we were in the field and had a few ranges going within the battalion. Each company had a detail for their designated range, our company’s was the M67 hand grenade range. We were running this range for the entire battalion. We got permission to go hot at 0800 that morning but at 1000 we were told that drill was cancelled due to an impended winter storm. We were in the south, so people traveling to and from drill might get stranded or worst crash on their ways home. We had to shut the range down quick and send everybody back to their respective armories to head back home. Fortunately for me I got to stay back as part of the range detail. Because of the sudden cancellation we were left with a battalion’s worth of hand grenades. On the RSOs guidance we started chucking these hand grenades 4 at a time to get rid of them so we didn’t have to turn it any live ordnance (a big pain). I must’ve thrown grenades for 30 minutes straight. Five of us throwing one, wait for confirmation for them to go off, throw another, repeat.
Idk how much a hand grenade is, but I sure got my money’s worth that weekend.
